Text Box: Recently mom saw family that she hadn’t seen for years. It made her so happy, even though the happiness only lasted moments. Because of mom’s dementia, memories most of the time last for minutes and then fade forever. Sometimes a picture or two triggers a memory, but it’s rare. I’ve learned to appreciate those happy moments I share with her.
Text Box: As usual, my sister in law Gloria, had a family gathering to celebrate her birthday. It was a very good time. Gloria and Joe had over all the usual close knit family guests in attendance. Mom and I were present. Anytime there’s a menu involved, we’re on top of the list. Gloria’s daughters Christine and Karen and of course granddaughter Tara. The big surprise of the evening was that granddaughter Kelly tracked her way back home from college so she could be part of the festivities. That last minute surprise sure enhanced the event and made Gloria very happy. As soon as we explained to mom who Kelly was, she was thrilled. A good time was had by all.
